Description
If you’ve been chasing that annoying oil leak at your rear axle, there’s a good chance it’s not actually your seal that’s gone bad. More often than not, it’s this little collar that’s worn grooves where your inner axle seal rides. Even the tiniest groove lets gear oil wick past the seal, creating that familiar puddle under your tractor after it’s been parked.
What You’re Getting
- Precision-machined collar with smooth sealing surface for your inner axle seal
- 50.96mm inside diameter designed for interference fit on your half shaft
- Heat-shrink installation creates a permanent, secure mount that won’t spin
- Essential replacement part that prevents future seal failures
- Inexpensive insurance against repeatedly replacing seals and losing gear oil
Built for Real Farm Work
This collar works on classic Ford 2N and 9N tractors as well as Massey Ferguson models including the popular TEF20 and 35X. These are the workhorses you see on small farms, hobby operations, and restoration projects – tractors that might be 50+ years old but still earn their keep around the property.
Made to Last
Over decades of use, the original collar develops wear grooves from the seal lip riding in the same spot. Sometimes rust pitting creates channels for oil to escape, or the collar gets damaged during half shaft removal. This replacement collar gives you a fresh, smooth surface that’ll keep your seals working properly for years to come.
Installation Notes
This collar requires heat-shrink installation – heat it with a torch until it’s too hot to touch, then quickly slide it into position before it cools and contracts. Mark your shaft location before removing the old collar, and clean any rust or burrs from the shaft first. Position it correctly the first time, as it won’t move once cooled.
