Description
When your steering feels loose and sloppy, with more play than control, it’s time to look at your steering box internals. This steering box shaft is part of the time-tested worm and sector gear design that’s been proven over decades. A worn steering shaft creates that annoying free play at the wheel and makes every turn feel like a guessing game, especially when you’re trying to thread between crop rows or back up to an implement.
What You’re Getting
- New-type design with 54mm narrow gap for improved precision and tighter tolerances
- Large hole configuration engineered for proper fit with modern steering box assemblies
- Heavy-duty construction that handles the constant forces from steering input and road feedback
- Direct replacement shaft that restores factory steering feel without modifications
Built for Real Farm Work
This shaft fits Massey Ferguson 135, 148, and 240 tractors – the workhorses that built modern farming. Whether you’re cultivating corn, mowing hay fields, or running a loader around the barn, these tractors need precise steering to get the job done safely and efficiently. The 135 and 148 are perfect for row crop work where every inch matters, while the 240 handles heavier implements with authority.
Made to Last
Farm steering systems take a beating from road vibration, implement forces, and thousands of turns every season. This shaft is built to handle all of it with precision-machined surfaces that work smoothly with your steering box gears. The new-type design incorporates improvements learned from decades of field experience.
Good to Know
This shaft works with dowel part number 62000 and worm part number 1850003 if you’re doing a complete steering box rebuild. Installation requires removing the old box completely, which means disconnecting the steering arms and column – take photos of the steering arm position before removal to help with reassembly. If your steering has been getting progressively worse, don’t wait – worn steering components are a safety issue that only gets more expensive to fix.
