Installation Notes

Handle the unit carefully during installation – the silicone fluid inside is critical for operation. Never store the unit on its side or upside down, as this can cause fluid migration that affects performance. Check your fan blades for cracks or damage before installation, and inspect the water pump bearing for excessive play – problems there will shorten clutch life. After installation, the fan should freewheel easily when cold but show increasing engagement as the engine warms, with full lock-up around 200°F coolant temperature.
