Description

When your David Brown’s three-point hitch starts moving like it’s stuck in molasses or your power steering feels stiff as a board, chances are your hydraulic filter is clogged and starving the system of clean oil. A dirty filter is often the culprit that’s starving your system of clean fluid and setting you up for expensive failures. This replacement filter catches all the metal particles, dirt, and contamination before they can damage your expensive hydraulic components.

What You’re Getting

  • High-efficiency filtration media that captures harmful contaminants without restricting oil flow
  • Direct replacement design fits your David Brown without modifications or adapters
  • Sturdy canister construction handles system pressure and temperature swings
  • Built-in bypass valve protects your hydraulics if the filter gets severely clogged
  • Quality construction that handles the bumps and vibration of daily farm work

Built for Real Farm Work

Your David Brown—whether it’s a compact 770 for hay work, a versatile 885 for field operations, or a powerful 996 for heavy tillage—depends on clean hydraulic oil for everything from lifting implements to turning the steering wheel. These tractors often run demanding hydraulic systems that operate under high pressure and frequent cycling, making quality filtration critical for preventing expensive pump, valve, and cylinder failures during busy farming seasons. During planting season, contaminated oil means inconsistent depth control. In hay season, dirty hydraulics cause jerky loader movements and sluggish three-point operation.

Made to Last

This filter uses quality media that captures particles and contaminants before they can damage expensive hydraulic components, while clean hydraulic fluid also helps maintain consistent system temperature and reduces the wear that can cause leaks, slow operation, and costly component failures. The pleated design maximizes filtering surface area for longer service life, and the heavy-duty construction withstands the pressure spikes that happen during cold starts or rapid control movements.

Installation Notes

Changing hydraulic filters is messy work, so have plenty of rags ready and a drain pan underneath—these filters hold more oil than you’d expect. Let the system cool down before you start, and relieve any pressure in the lines for safe service. Clean the filter head mounting surface thoroughly, apply a thin film of clean hydraulic oil to the new filter’s gasket, then hand-tighten plus 3/4 turn. Over-tightening damages the gasket and makes future removal difficult. After installation, run the tractor and cycle all the hydraulics to purge air from the system, then check your oil level and top off as needed.
