Description
When your International Harvester tractor starts blowing oil smoke, losing compression, or burning oil faster than it should, you know it’s time for a complete engine rebuild. These M series and W6 tractors have been the backbone of farming operations for decades, and with the right overhaul kit, they’ll keep earning their keep for many more years to come. This Tru-Power engine kit gives you everything needed to bring that 248 cubic inch four-cylinder gas engine back to like-new performance.
What You’re Getting
- Complete overhaul kit with sleeves, pistons, rings, and all gaskets for a thorough rebuild
- High-compression stepped-head pistons that’ll give you better power and fuel efficiency

Built for Real Farm Work
This kit fits the workhorses of mid-century farming – the International Harvester M, MV, W6, O6, and OS6 series tractors. These machines handled everything from plowing and discing to belt work and loader duties around the farmyard. Whether your tractor’s been pulling a two-bottom plow or running a threshing machine, this is the same quality rebuild kit that’ll get it back to handling whatever work you throw at it.
Made to Last
Tru-Power has been building engine components for farm equipment for years, understanding that these tractors need to run all day in dusty conditions and handle heavy loads season after season. The stepped-head pistons and quality gasket materials are designed to hold up to the constant heat cycling and vibration that comes with real farm work.
Good to Know
This is a complete engine rebuild job that requires pulling the engine or at least removing the head and oil pan for proper installation. Most folks tackle this during the off-season when they have time to do it right. Since bearings aren’t included, you’ll want to have your connecting rod and main bearings checked – if they’re in good shape, you can reuse them, but it’s often worth replacing them while you’re this deep into the engine.
